Construction sealant applications, product support and specification guidance for demanding projects.
Paneling and Cladding
High movement capacity and excellent weather durability are key requirements for panel and cladding applications. Specified MS or silicone sealants can be used for precast concrete panels, lightweight concrete panels, fibre cement panels and composite panels with aluminium, coated steel or stainless steel facing materials.
Fire rated MS sealants can support project requirements where tested joint systems and fire resistance levels are required.
Roofing, Glazing, Windows and Doors
Roofing, windows and doors are subject to movement, vibration and direct weather exposure. Sealants should be selected according to seal type, substrate combination and durability needs.
General purpose silicone, weatherproof silicone and MS joint sealants can support glazing, roofs, gutters, windows, doors and powder coated aluminium applications.
Curtain Walls
Curtain wall systems are demanding sealant applications. Silicone sealants may act as weather seals and structural bonding materials, with long service life required due to maintenance and replacement cost.
Structural silicone systems should be supported by technical consultation, field service, adhesion tests and compatibility tests.
Interiors and Finishes
Interior and finishing applications vary by substrate, paintability, decorative finish, movement and bonding strength. Silicone may not always be the best or only choice.
All-purpose silicone, MS adhesive sealants, nails-free adhesive and acrylic gap fillers can support windowsills, cupboards, caravan or boat repair, hooks, racks, lights and pre-painting gap filling.
Kitchen, Bathroom and Surfaces
Hygiene and appearance are important when selecting sealants for kitchens, bathrooms, poolside areas and patios. Anti-fungal, anti-mould, non-staining and non-yellowing properties are commonly required.
Kitchen and bathroom silicone, all-rounder silicone, MS adhesive sealants and epoxy grout sealers can support wet-area and finishing surface applications.
Flooring
Flooring applications need durable bonding, clean finishing and compatibility with the selected substrate. Product selection should consider movement, moisture exposure, cure speed and the required decorative finish.
Waterproofing
Waterproofing applications require careful product selection around water exposure, surface preparation and long-term service conditions. Expon can support product guidance for wet areas, tiled surfaces and exposed building elements.
